Dual Energies
Elusive is a super talented electronic musician whose style is often referred to as jazztronica, a fusion of hip-hop, jazz and electronic music. He is one of the first artists that I met when I moved to LA. I have always found his music exhilarating and highly inspiring, and I always thought that our two unique and distinct universes could complement themselves perfectly.
Designing a cover album has always been a dream of mine. In July 2023, Elusive contacted me and gave me the complete freedom to illustrate his upcoming album Natural Resolve. (Link opens Spotify)
It happened that I was on a train between Chicago and Los Angeles when I worked on my first drafts. It was such a powerful experience to contemplate the stunning landscapes while listening to the mesmerizing melodies. And to let my brain wander…what a powerful experience to be creatively driven by music. Elusive loved the drawing at first sight.
